Dr Laurie Keefer is a Rome Foundation Board Member and an academic health psychologist with more than 15 years experience in psychogastroenterology. She has expertise in the development and evaluation of behavioral interventions for a wide range of digestive disorders including cognitive-behavior therapy for irritable bowel syndrome and gut-directed hypnotherapy for a range of esophageal disorders and inflammatory bowel disease. More recently her research has turned to the application of positive psychology interventions to GI disorders and digital behavioral therapeutics. Her clinical focus is currently in the management of high risk patients with Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis– she serves as the Director of GRITT-IBD, a multidisciplinary outpatient program at Mount Sinai Hospital’s IBD Center in NYC. Dr Keefer lives in NJ with her husband and 2 school-aged children.
